Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, a representative from Chingu Treks and Tours will greet you and transfer you to your hotel. After settling in, you will have the rest of the day to relax and recover from your journey. If you have energy, you can explore the nearby areas of Thamel, a vibrant neighborhood known for its shops, restaurants, and cafes. In the evening, there will be a pre-trek briefing with your guide, where you will receive details about the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek and any last-minute information or equipment recommendations.
Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside city. After breakfast in Kathmandu, you will travel through the picturesque landscapes of Nepal, passing through rural villages, terraced fields, and riverside views. The journey takes approximately 6 to 7 hours, and you will enjoy stunning views of the surrounding hills and mountains as you approach Pokhara. Once you arrive in Pokhara, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax. You can explore the lakeside area, enjoy a boat ride on Phewa Lake, or simply unwind in this peaceful city.
Today marks the beginning of your trek. After breakfast, you will drive to Naya Pool, the starting point of your trek. The drive takes about 1.5 hours, offering scenic views of rivers, hills, and small villages along the way. From Naya Pool, the trail starts with a short trek to Tikhe Dhunga. The trek is about 4 to 5 hours and involves a steady climb through beautiful forests and small settlements. You’ll pass through the village of Birethanti, where the trek is registered before continuing to Tikhe Dhunga, a charming village where you’ll spend the night. Tikhe Dhunga offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the peaceful atmosphere of the Himalayas.
Today’s trek will take you to Ghorepani, one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Annapurna region. The trail is steep at first, passing through lush forests of rhododendron and oak trees, with occasional glimpses of distant snow-capped peaks. As you ascend, you’ll pass through the village of Ulleri, famous for its stone steps, and then continue up through dense forests and small settlements. The trek to Ghorepani takes about 6 hours, and upon arrival, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Machapuchare (Fishtail). Ghorepani is a small village located at 2,850 meters, and it’s a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the stunning mountain views.
An early start today will reward you with a sunrise hike to Poon Hill (3,210 m), one of the most famous viewpoints in the Annapurna region. The hike takes about an hour, and once at the top, you will be greeted by spectacular panoramic views of the Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, Machapuchare, and several other peaks. The sunrise over these majestic mountains is a memory you will cherish forever. After taking in the breathtaking views, you will return to Ghorepani for breakfast before continuing your trek to Tadapani. The trail from Ghorepani to Tadapani takes about 6 hours, passing through dense forests and offering occasional views of the surrounding mountains. Tadapani is a small village that offers stunning views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare.
Today’s trek is a short and easy day, taking around 3 hours to reach Ghandruk, one of the most picturesque villages in the Annapurna region. The trail descends through beautiful rhododendron forests and terraced fields, offering wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Ghandruk is a traditional Gurung village, known for its stone houses and beautiful views of Annapurna South, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli. You’ll have time to explore the village and interact with the friendly locals. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the culture and lifestyle of the Gurung people.
After breakfast in Ghandruk, you will begin your descent to Naya Pool, which takes about 3 to 4 hours. The trail is mostly downhill, passing through lush forests and terraced fields, with stunning views of the mountains in the distance. From Naya Pool, you will take a drive back to Pokhara, which takes about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival in Pokhara, you will check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax or explore the lakeside area. You can take a boat ride on Phewa Lake, visit the Peace Pagoda for panoramic views of the city and the mountains, or simply enjoy a leisurely dinner in one of the many lakeside restaurants.
Today, you will drive back to Kathmandu, which takes approximately 7 to 8 hours. The scenic drive will take you through rural villages, farmland, and winding roads, with beautiful views of the hills and rivers. Once you arrive in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, and the rest of the day will be free for you to rest or explore the city. You can visit the UNESCO World Heritage sites, such as the Durbar Square, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), or Boudhanath Stupa, or you can do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs. In the evening, Chingu Treks and Tours will host a farewell dinner, celebrating the successful completion of your trek.
On the final day of your trip, you will be transferred to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight. Whether you are heading home or continuing your travels, you will leave Nepal with unforgettable memories of the stunning mountains and the wonderful experience of the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek.
