Overview

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a remarkable and challenging trekking route that takes adventurers around Mount Manaslu (8,163 meters), the eighth-highest mountain in the world. Located in the Nepalese Himalayas, this trek offers a truly authentic and off-the-beaten-path experience, attracting trekkers seeking adventure and solitude in the majestic mountains. Starting from Arughat or Soti Khola, the trail winds through diverse landscapes, ranging from subtropical forests to alpine meadows, and provides breathtaking views of towering peaks, including Mount Manaslu, Ngadi Chuli, Buddha Himal, and Himalchuli. The trek passes through traditional villages, where trekkers can experience the rich culture and lifestyle of the Tamang, Gurung, and Sherpa communities, adding an immersive cultural element to the journey.

One of the highlights of the Manaslu Circuit is crossing the Larkya La Pass (5,160 meters), which is the highest point of the trek. This challenging pass offers panoramic views of snow-covered peaks and is one of the most rewarding experiences for trekkers. The trek also offers exceptional biodiversity, with lush forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo, providing habitat for wildlife such as the elusive snow leopard, musk deer, and various species of pheasants. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a true Himalayan adventure that combines natural beauty, cultural exploration, and a physical challenge, making it one of the most rewarding trekking experiences in Nepal.

Major Places for Manaslu Circuit Trek
The Manaslu Circuit Trek is dotted with several key locations that add to the allure and challenge of the journey. The trek starts in Soti Khola or Arughat, both easily accessible from Kathmandu by jeep or bus. From here, trekkers ascend through lush forests and picturesque villages like Lapubesi and Jagat, where the distinct culture of the Gurung people comes to life. Continuing through the valley, the trail reaches Samagaon, a stunning village at the base of Mount Manaslu, which offers incredible views of the mountain and is the ideal place for acclimatization. This village is also home to the Manaslu Base Camp, where trekkers can take in even closer views of the massive peak.

Another important stop is Bimtang, located at the base of the Larkya La Pass. This village marks the beginning of the most challenging section of the trek as trekkers prepare for the ascent to the pass. Larkya La Pass (5,160 meters) is a high-altitude crossing that requires careful preparation and acclimatization. From the pass, trekkers are treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks, including Himalchuli, Ngadi Chuli, and Mount Manaslu.
